Celebrating 50 Years of Marriage with Dance.

Updated: Feb 3

My students, who asked me to call them Grandpa and Grandma, are celebrating their 50th anniversary on Saturday. We've had a great time dancing during our sessions. And I've had a great time listening to all their stories. They told me about their time in the Philippines, how they ended up immigrating to the United States, and how dancing has always been a big part of their lives. Grandma also shared how she survived a major heart surgery and couldn't wait to show all the doctors and nurses who helped save her life this special anniversary dance. Here they are posing with a photo from their first wedding. Looking forward to seeing them dance at their wedding.

A photo with Grandma and Grandpa right before they entered into their reception for the first dance. Down below are a few snip-its of the dance.

To honor their Filipino culture and heritage, the wedding included Filipino folk dancing which was an absolute treat to watch. What a beautiful celebration to remind me of how I started, why I started and why I continue to dance.
